The Wanaka Arts 2021 Labour Weekend Exhibition & Sale will be held Labour Weekend: Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th October, and Aspiring Village is delighted to be the naming rights sponsor.
The theme is “Arts Alive”, an idea that encapsulates the vibrant creative scene in Wanaka, the working artists who will be on site, and the performers who will enliven the atmosphere with music throughout the weekend.
Guest artists this year will be Justine Summers (painter), Shannon Courtenay (ceramics), and Amy Bixby (jeweller). We’ll have seven working artists active on site: Kym Beaton, Robin Brisker, Jenny Hill, Kate Boswell, Julia Sternkopf, Esther Dexter, and Kate Costello.
The weekend will kick off with a festive opening night from 5-8pm on Thursday 21st October 2021, with live music from local legend Noel Coutts, drinks and nibbles, and awards. This is always a fun night to come together with the community and celebrate the hard work and creativity of our fellow artists. Tickets for this evening will be available via eventfinda.
If you are artistically inclined and wish to enter, take note…Wanaka Arts are delighted to announce they’re increasing the prize pool to $5,800 this year, with judges awarding the following: 1st Prize – $3,000; 2nd Prize – $2,000; five highly commended certificates at $100 each; one People’s Choice Award for $300.
